SIB created the Bioinformatics Awards in 2008 to acknowledge early career bioinformaticians and ground-breaking resources of national and international standing. The international awards honour excellence in bioinformatics and computational biology within three categories:

• PhD Paper Award
• Early Career Award
• Innovative Resource Award

The awards are assigned by an international jury, revised by the SIB Award Committee and announced during the biennial [BC]² Basel Computational Biology Conference.

• Theme 2: Adding value to data and facilitation of data use (the “V” in PV)
• Theme 3: Challenges of incorporating complex policy, technology, standards and principles in Open Data Environments

• Theme 1: Advances in Climate Research 
• Theme 2: Human Interactions with Climate
• Theme 3: Co-produced Climate Services and Solutions

A limited amount of financial support will be available to support attendees who are early to mid-career researchers or who are from low to lower-middle-income countries and can be applied for as part of the abstract submission process. The International Council for the Exploration of the Sea (ICES) is an intergovernmental marine science organisation, meeting societal needs for impartial evidence on the state and sustainable use of our seas and oceans.

​​​​​​​​ICES invites authors to submit an abstract for a presentation or a poster for their hybrid conference, taking place 1–14 September 2023 online and in Bilbao, Spain. Deadline for submissions is 21 March 2023.

The FAIR Champions are highly visible experts actively engaged in analysing and shaping FAIR data policies and practices in their field. They are engaged in identifying research data gaps and needs within their communities, to create broader engagement with FAIR, and to shape and disseminate the outcomes of the FAIR-IMPACT project.

FAIR-IMPACT is looking for Champions who have broad expertise in FAIR policy and/or practice, bring strong research data advocacy experience and excellent communications skills, are driven to help mobilise others to generate more FAIR data on  policy and/or practice level, and are keen to share best practices. In putting together its team of FAIR Champions, FAIR-IMPACT will ensure gender diversity, a balanced geographical and stakeholder representation, and broad interdisciplinary expertise across FAIR policy and practice.
